Ambition asks:
What can I achieve?
Fulfilment asks:
What makes me feel fully alive?
They can point in the same direction, but they don't always.
You can reach a goal and discover that you do not enjoy the life required to maintain it.
Pay attention to energy.
Not every enjoyable thing is meaningful.
Not every difficult thing is wrong.
But there is information in the pattern.
Where does energy naturally appear?
Where does it disappear?
Where do you become absorbed?
Where does everything feel heavy?
Fulfilment is not a reward at the end of achievement.
It can be information about whether the path itself is aligned.
A conscious leader does not reject ambition.
They ask what ambition is serving.
Reflection
What kind of work makes you feel more alive after doing it — and how much of your leadership currently contains that kind of work?
