There are people whose greatest leadership capacity sits unused because nobody explicitly invited it forward.
They see something.
They know something.
They could improve something.
But they wait.
Waiting can feel respectful.
Sometimes it is.
But sometimes waiting is a sophisticated form of hiding.
There is a difference between taking over and stepping forward.
You can say:
“I have an observation.”
“Would it be useful if I shared what I’m seeing?”
“There’s something here I think we’re missing.”
That makes your capability available without imposing it.
Leadership is not only taking responsibility when responsibility is assigned.
Sometimes it is noticing what is needed and stepping forward.
