What If Rest Is Part of the Strategy?

Rest is not a reward after the work. Explore why restoration protects leadership capacity, creativity and judgement.

What If Rest Is Part of the Strategy?

Rest is often treated as what happens when the work is finished.

Which means, conveniently, that it rarely happens.

There is always something else.

But leadership consumes resources.

Attention.

Patience.

Creativity.

Emotional capacity.

Physical energy.

Decision-making capacity.

If something is continually spent without being restored, eventually it runs out.

Rest is not the opposite of productivity.

If rest restores the capacity to think, relate, decide and create, then rest is part of the system that makes those things possible.

Sometimes stillness reveals something effort cannot.

A decision that wasn't clear yesterday.

A better idea.

A truth that becomes obvious when the noise stops.
