Habit is useful.
It saves energy. It creates consistency. It makes things easier.
But there is a point where habit becomes unconscious leadership.
“This is how we do things.”
That sentence can protect stability.
It can also protect stagnation.
A leader may continue holding the same meeting, using the same process, communicating in the same way or solving the same problems simply because that is what they have always done.
Conscious leadership brings fresh awareness to familiar situations.
Ask:
“If I were approaching this for the first time, what would I do?”
Not because the old way is necessarily wrong.
Because you may no longer be the person who created it.
Reflection
What are you continuing simply because it is familiar?
